We have been faced with this exact question many times in the past, like many of you reading this blog, and at some point, we both decided that following our passion and creating a career focussed on something we love, would be the only way to lead a fulfilling life.
Over the past few years, both Mike and Don have taken significant steps toward building the skills and expertise to launch what has now become our ultimate dream, the formation of Escape Safari Co. Our journey has been one that has been many years in the making. The dream of starting our own company, planning incredible wilderness experiences for guests, leading safaris all over the continent and following our passion to inspire the curiosity that lives in all of us.
Our story
Our journeys in the safari industry began many years ago, as young guides with little knowledge of how the next few years would shape our thoughts and aspirations for our future. Each step of our journey, apart and together, led us to this point in our lives and has ultimately given us the passion and understanding to pursue a career in planning luxury safaris.
Having both worked as guides and photographic guides for many years, we both have in-depth understanding of the natural world as well as the details and logistics involved in planning the ultimate safari escape.
We have worked with many incredible people, we have played witness to rare scenes, guided guests on safari, driven 4x4 land rovers, wielded rifles, walked with wild animals and shared our passion with many guests. We have also planned many safaris and have travelled extensively around the African continent, learning about the diversity of Africa.
Over the past 10 years, we have both worked toward achieving this goal and it is now a reality.
What we do
Escape Safari Co. is an intimate, luxury safari travel company that specialises in planning custom safari escapes. Each safari is singular in its planning and its execution. We are involved in the entire journey of any safari, from the inception of an idea to nurturing the itinerary and finally delivering the ultimate experience.
We plan safaris to anywhere in Africa and we do this directly with our guests, step by step. We operate a transparent booking process, whereby our guests are involved as much as they would like to be. No stone goes unturned and every detail is carefully planned by our team.
